I am of the possibly unpopular belief that you can't ethically employ someone who can't afford to say no. Whether you're buying butt or getting an extra pair of hands for moving. It's definitely an inconvenient belief.

Also I mean, while I do get what you're saying from a. Day to day point you can't ethically hire someone who in that moment literally can't afford to say no, but as a whole no human can afford to say no to work. Everyone has to do it, and while it may be unethical, it's at the very least fair imo

Oh yeah, I am not necessarily thinking of it from a consent standpoint, more thinking about leverage. Fishing boats staffed by modern slaves that pay for the privilege of work, buying someone's wedding rings for pennies on the dollar, getting blown for a ride. You don't get lucky, other people get fricked.
