What people don't understand about this guy is that he solved problems with regard to VR that are very obvious now, but were not at the time. No one was bothering with VR at all because it kept making people sick. This dude, while working out of a trailer on his parents' property, figured out that motion sickness was linked to refresh rate, and he built prototype headsets out of bastardized samsung phones that could display enough fps to not make people puke. He brought some cobbled together piece of shit to a conference, practically getting r*ped by TSA on the way, and managed to impress Carmack enough that he started developing software for it. I'm not saying Palmer Luckey was the foremost genius of his time or whatever, but everyone trying to act like he's some nobody because he's a chud now is a jealous, lame piece of shit. Any of us would be lucky as crap to accomplish what he did by the time he was 21.

True, but he fixed it for head movement, which wasn't even possible before. If you move your head and/or body and the tracking is slower than your brain thinks it should be, you get sick. The current VR headsets handle head tracking very well, so you can swivel your head all over the place and be ok, but moving your body around with a controller or whatever is too off-putting for your brain, and there probably isn't any way to fix that. If you had like a warehouse or a big open space, you could move around in a VR environment without wanting to throw up.
