Apple TV Benjamin Franklin Episode 3: Ben Franklin teaches his grandson a lesson about transphobia and stochastic terrorism

:#marseyfranklin:

Ben Franklin and his grandson are sitting in a theater preparing to watch a special performance in honor of the King's favorite :marseytrain2: having been freed from exile. "Me and my French bro are making bets about whether this guy in a dress actually thinks he's a woman - what do you think?"

"You're WHAT?" says the older Franklin. His grandson shuts up embarrassed.

Soon the train is on stage and is boldly proclaiming xerself to be the first French person to openly support arming the American revolution, and says xhe's going to do it whether the king agrees or not or something. (Americans should thank :marseytrain2:s for the winning the American revolution.) Franklin stands up and tries to thank xer in French but stumbles around phrases about "taking her sword" and the entire theater starts laughing at the :marseytrain2: and xe tears up.

Dinner party scene, Franklin is sulking sitting on the loser side of the table away from potential benefactors and the :marseytrain2: that everybody loves now. His grandson says, "Maybe you should have worn a dress." Franklin scoffs at his grandson's insensitive language.

The next scene is Franklin taking a piss in the garden and noticing the train is also taking a piss standing up, hiking up his dress, kind of looks like he's humping the wall, now grinning at Franklin - staring at each other while they piss.

"What are you?" says Benjamin Franklin in awe.

"I am a fact without a name" spouts the :marseytrain2:, and Franklin nods like that means something.

Later Franklin' grandson and his French bro are giggling showing Ben this printed cartoon of the :marseytrain2: showing off her peepee. Franklin harumphs, "THAT'S not very well printed." French bro tries to explain these cartoons are always edgy, kek, there's even one of the Queen lesbianing it up. Franklin sternly says, "In this country vice and oddity are thought nothing of but being meanly funny can be DEADLY."

:#marseynotesbardfinn:

The episode ends with Franklin's grandson being introduced to the greatest, most elegant whore in all of France, which I was hoping was a :marseytrain2:, but was actually the first black character on the show, which wasn't weirdly done, but felt amusingly like chud bait.

I also like how this show is going to painful lengths to make clear that Franklin is only going to start banging a French woman because his own wife is dead and the French woman's husband is cheating on her, not because Franklin a lecherous old pervert.

It's been a long time since I've watched it but is this from the great John Adams HBO series? Cause he was great

Indeed it is.

That series :marseychartscatter: had the definitive depiction :marseyfirehead: of every founding :marseyjohnson: father. Apparently they even got the accents right.

You know, I did not realise that was the same actor. I do know Hamilton was the Burger :marseywhale: Nazi from The Man in the High Castle and Washington was Boomer :marseyhawaii: from St. Elsewhere (showing my age there).

(Americans should thank :marseytrain2:s for the winning the American revolution.)

We could have fought it to standstill with massive destruction for everyone. It was the French, especially their fleet, that let us win. As Thomas Paine said, France is our true mother country.

Every true redblooded American boy wants to die in France to repay our debt. (Also French women unironically get turned on by American WW2 uniforms, I'm pretty sure la femme who shared this wasn't hitting on me, she was just having a rare honest foid moment.)

The best portrayal I can think of is Battle of Fort William Henry.

Mayos if you had any idea how many of your ancestors died sticking their head up and getting silhouetted for the guys on the other side in European wars 1500s-1700s... Well.. you wouldn't be able to think of anything they could have done better but you'll still feel bad.

Lafayette is in the show, but I suspect some of connections with him and the Franklin crew are ahistorical, but I don't know.

Lafayette was like literally adopted by Washington, they were really close.

And what no American wants to admits today is Rochambeau was one of our great heroes. Led the French at Yorktown where I'm going to be completely honest, we didn't have the centuries of experience in siege warfare and we were the students until 1918.

Anyone watch Tokyo Vice? In the second season they make one of hostesses of a hostess bar a black chick. This felt really out of place for 90s/2000s Japan but idk.

I haven't seen the second season yet but I remember the main hostess bar in season 1 had a ton of foreign women working at it, although I think they were all white. If it's the same one it wouldn't be too much of a stretch.
