RPGCodex DOT net is the only sovlful gaming website left on the internet where the clock essentially stopped at 2008 and people talk about the same games with the same arguments using the same slurs over and over again. They're mostly known as the most neurodivergent conglomeration of vidya connoisseurs that ocassionaly stop talking about decade old vidya to play decade old vidya and despite everyone hating everything new, their lists usually feature a lot of new games. Wrath of the Righteous was pretty much on par with baldurs gate as far as being completely insufferable in all aspects so that before you even get to the gameplay part, you already hate it. larian and owlcat should team up to make the ultimate game for girls and weirdos.
Steal the Deus Ex ip but set it in a high school, where a nerdy girl or trans fbi agent has to infiltrate and unravel a conspiracy in the administration to rig the prom king/queen vote. There will of course be many hunky boys to build relationships with through branching dialogue trees and maybe some combat sometimes. Skills may include makeup, smooching, flirting and acrobatics. Call it Deus Ex: Remastered.
That one's free, if any studios want more of my ideas it'll cost you big time.

Fun fact, a lot of it is trying to kill you. While I haven't played BG3 yet, in both previous games, she is the only one who is more than happy to stab you in the back.
In BG1, she and her bumfrick of a husband will attack you for the horrible crime of associating with Monty and Xzar, two glorious butthole anti-heroes who just want to solve the Iron Crisis, while in BG2, she will side with the Harpers if your reputation is below 10... say, because you've committed the ghastly offense of choosing chaotic neutral at character creation and going for that quest first.
Both of these games are filled with scheming evil fricks as teammates, who not only will be loyal to you till the bitter end, they'll also help avoid some fights with their associates (Xzar, Edwin) or give you unique solutions (Shar-Teel)... the Harpers, her little friends, will let you rot in jail multiple times and will actively try to kill you.

I dont understand it. Ive played the last 3 larian games, and the romance totally underpins any immersion from companion interaction in this one. Every. Single. Thing. You do changes how much a character wants to frick you, and will talk about wanting to frick you, and explain their own life story befre they frick you. Makes me not want them in my party at all, as its so extremely unimmersive when you have 2 (3 for singlestrags) NPCs trying to make you their blood wife or something completely independent and noninteractive with eachother. Its so fricking stupid. They should have made it like Divinity Original Sin 1 where the frick happens in a text box if you want, but the real companion interaction revolves around them becoming well rounded or deranged human beings.

This wasn't really my experience. What I did, for example, terrifying small children, influenced how much Astarion was comfortable sharing with me. No romance necessary or insinuated - of course, someone does have to like you before they date you.
The companions back down really quickly if you turn them down. If they turn you down and you press the issue, they'll resent you for it. The companions do have their own preferences - you can pressure Astarion into an open relationship but he will really fricking hate you for it.
I'd say it's a pretty reasonable and well-toned game. People just really overemphasize romance.

I agree from a gameplay perspective, I just think FFX has the best mix of gameplay and story, plus the leveling system was really neat.
FF6 is the best gameplay wise if you are talking about only the mainseries games (I prefer the Bravely Games as they just feel like modern versions of FF6)
