Website claims to have harvested over 4 billion Groomercord chats :marseypoggers: and is now selling it to anyone who wants to spy on you :marseyveryworried:

https://www.theregister.com/2024/04/16/discord_network_sale/

Doesn't look like a data leak, more like various users :marseyspy: secretly joining groomercord servers and then harvesting/scraping all the messages inaide :marseynotes: then selling access for crypto. :marseycoin:

Luckily, this won't affect you: dramatards are all too willing to leak their Groomercord chats themselves :marseyfrozenchosenchokespal: :marseyxd:

Good. If you're on Groomercord, you're a p-dophile who deserves to be exposed.

I'm pretty sure groomercord bots can see the entire chat history of each server they're added to. That always seemed like a major security/privacy concern to me.

It would be unsurprising to learn that popular bots are collecting and selling data.

Just read the article, they probably use web scrapers and maybe groomercord bots.

I think there's going to be a cultural thesis/antithesis conflict soon with how people both lack all sense of privacy online, and will bluntly and openly share all their life details and degeneracy on groomercord, contrasted with the fanatic doxxers who get hard at the act of destroying the lives and reputations of people.

It's not a stretch to say this sort of thing could lead to a considerable amount of suicides? Kiwifarms already have a tally of :marseydead:, and they're just a bunch of spergs manually trawling for lolcows. A collected searchable archive of personal data like this would be kiwifarms on steroids, especially because groomercord users seem to be prone to oversharing.

Unironically support this because all the morons on groomercord should know you absolutely have no privacy but treat that place like a private chat room.

Also so much content in there (actual info like coding examples etc, not personal bullshit) that needs to get AI'd so the general public can use it.

My friend thought of toying with this idea the other day; by making a groomercord bot that has enough capacities that is attractive to it joins a lot of servers and scrapes every message, comment, channel, etc. I do not believe it is against the law unless you live in SF or maybe the EU but I guess people probably have done it before thousand of times, it's just that it does not get an article made by a popular news website
