If the driver doesn't hand it to the customer then isn't it much easier for the customer to say they didn't get it and the driver gets punished? Never mind if it's placed at the wrong door or someone steals it.

The doordasher app has you take a photo of where you drop the food off, so its actually easier for them to scam when you hand it to them. Also, the contactless delivery option on the app prompts you to call the customer and arrange with them where to drop the delivery. Its the most annoying option
Not that i would personally know any of this since im a highly successful entrepreneur and could never be a wagie. Its just what i've heard

No. The default is to place it in front of the door and they take a photo of the front door with the food there.
It's very very easy and I'm pretty sure if the photo is there a couple times already and you start trying to say the food didn't arrive at all you're gonna stop getting refunds for crying wolf
