This is part of the shift to nuspeak, so that words describing illegals are more soft and embracing, because the shit libs want the flooding of immigrants. Don't think they're leftists though, because the suppression of wages and increasing of rents due to uncontrolled population/migration is the most anti-worker thing you can do. It aligns perfectly with corporate interests. The elite class has specifically done this to make r-slurs think mass illegal migration is a good and just thing.

No, actual leftists are completely on board with unchecked immigration. Tons of leftists believe that we have enough resources to live in a post scarcity society and that the only thing standing in the way of that is billionaires hoarding wealth and capitalism in general. They don't blame the wage suppression on migrants flooding the market, they blame the capitalists for the market even existing. Even a hint of pragmatic thinking gets you kicked out of leftist spaces. Acknowledging real world consequences and doing things to avoid those consequences is the same thing as siding with the oppressor. Most of them won't ever have to deal with, or even see those consequences so it really is easy for them to ignore.
