Just got diagnosed with avascular necrosis, or osteonecrosis of the femoral joints in my hips. Turns out brutally heavy drinking can cause bone death in your hips and possibly knees, causing chronic debilitating pain.

My uncle's hitting 70 and he drinks wine + homemade alcohol every day. Old man is still as strong as an ox.

Anecdotal data is useless to make such a statement. Your uncle is genetically lucky. I personally know know someone that smoked weed everyday for years, while working like heck and moved up real far in the company. I saw him do this over the years. Yet I would never claim it is ridiculous to say heavy potsmokers are lazy. They usually are. One exception doesn't change that.
