Is it abnormal for boomers to not know who's side we were on in WW2 or is my perception distorted from talking to too many nerds?

My mom was surprised to learn that Italy wasn't on our side and her dad was a Marine in Japan who came home mostly deaf from the gunfire. :marseyhmm:

No, that's normal. I've been surprised too many times to be surprised by what people, including boomers, don't know about history. I can't come up with a reason they should care anyway.
