I think that one was oil-based - there was another story going around at the time with a physics teacher trying to immersion cool a PC in distilled water, but being an r-slured teachercel he wasn't aware that distilled water is still easily conductive enough to short electronics.

I remember these arguments. I think theoretically perfectly distilled water with absolutely 0 adulterants would be nonconductive but you would never achieve it

Isn't there still a tiny bit of h3O+ and OH- in pure water? How are we defining non conductive?

Yeah it would have to be molecularly perfect distilled water
