There are youtube channels that are literally just GenZers watching an entire feature film?????

This is the most ridiculous thing I ever experienced.

I came across this chanell which is quite literally just three dudes who watch a movie or TV show and film themselves. Nothing more. https://youtube.com/@ReelTimeYT

I found more of then, I cannot believe this is real

There are channels where the whole schtick is movie/show recaps with a shitty AI voiceover. They have millions of subs.

I don't know who watches these things. Probably r-slurred children being raised by iPads.

Idk, the guys from ops channel also has a patreon with nearly 5000 paying members :marseydespair:

So unless the ipad kids found out how to donate to their favorite slopchannels via moms credit card (which is possible I guess) theres probably an audience of lonely millenials or whatever who want to have a parasocial friendshio with these guys.

Those guys are making minimum 80K a year UDS each from patreon alone, but probably more. That's not including adsense from YT directly

I watched one of these once when I couldn't find a plot summary for a film :marseyantiwork2:

I don't get why someone would sub to them but recaps aren't weird.

Do they riff on the material? Because thats a pretty successful format, beavis & butthead, mystery science theater 3000 etc

I once saw a video of a guy reacting to a new song and it was literally just the song but every 30 seconds the guy would interrupt to say "this is fire". It was absurd

I watched a few of their videos with movies I already know and like and it's hard to describe - it's not exactly MST3k style riffing, they're not making fun of the movie or anything, but they are sort of chatting about it. But there's also periods where they watch and react wordlessly, or just sort of acknowledge their reaction "wow this is scary/sad" etc. It is crazy

It's just another pretend friend format. A lot of youtube videos and genres are just what you put on to feel like you have friends or gfs

They are a specific subset of reaction channels, that watch and later "discuss" media (mostly tv, sometimes films, often anime).

It's entertainment for people with no friends to watch their favourite thing with, so they substitute with some YouTubers screaming in fake excitement. Very sad phenomenon.

they provide abridged versions of shows/movies to rewatch. good enough for me

The example in OP is completely unwatchable in following the movie, r-slur. If you can't sit still for an hour to watch a movie without three dipshits guiding you through it and cutting it down you are terminally fricked and should keep yourself safe

I came across people uploading just the end credits to films so their other neurodivergent friends could watch and discuss them. This sounds weird but it honestly made me feel sick, like stumbling across some obscure, depraved corner of the internet where people share snuff films.

Bonus - in the channel I linked, the fat one of the three who sits on the far left seems to be r-slurred or brain damaged. None of the videos are insightful or smart but he is terminally regarded and inarticulate. This is wild that someone who is that bad at expressing themselves has a succesful YT channel

This started with boomers though. I forget the show's name, but there was a show years and years ago where they would watch a movie and two annoying people would talk over it. Forget the name. I didn't like it but it was around for a while. Boomers and zoomers are exactly alike just different opinions.
