Argentina may have been a shithole, but it's military wasn't. In fact, it arguably had an advantage during the conflict.
At the time, they had a large and potent air force, flying Douglas A-4 Skyhawks and Dassault Super รtendards, among others. Those aircraft were responsible for the majority of losses sustained by the Royal Navy.
They also operated an aircraft carrier and sizeable naval forces.
Another factor was the fact that Argie planes operated closer to bases, while the British had to maintain an oceangoing expeditionary force.
There are other important factors, but the British Aerospace Sea Harrier significantly closed that advantage with its impressive 20:0 air-to-air victory rate. Also, the Argentine fleet retreated to port after HMS Conquerer sank ARA General Belgrano.
The one arena the British had an indisputable advantage was ground forces. After landing, Royal Marines and British Army soldiers retook the islands from a majority conscript Argentine garrison in a few weeks.
