An extremely odd story that I'm guessing is based on some kind of kernel of truth. As it stands, her parents gave her a check of ~$40,000 which she tore up and then her grandfather conjured up a cashiers check for $120,000.

Bet they are exaggerating the heck out of the story. Parents probably charged a nominal rent to them to prevent their r-slur child (like all children) from blowing money on useless shit and to have it when they are starting life. R-slur child is now angry about that and exaggerating it for butt pats on reddit.

I wish my parents had done that for me. I blew all of my money on fricking Warhammer models and had to start out with nothing. Someone saving money I was too dumb too would have been great.
