The article is about why americans have gotten meaner recently, redditors spend their time in the comment section trying to narrow down the specific cause for this (not linking all the comments becuase there are a ton):

Moral decay may be one reason, but the main reason our relationships have deteriorated is lack of time… and that goes back to the need to make money in order to survive. I have no friends, but it's because I have zero time to invest in healthy friendships… our schedules clash, we fail to speak to each other for months on end. It does make me sad when I stop to think about it, but luckily, I don't have much time for that either. The moral decay comes from the late-stage capitalist society that we live in.
