First thing you should focus on is filling your pantry with a variety of sauces and spices.

Sweet/smoked paprika, cumin, turmeric, brown sugar, cayenne, white pepper etc.

Soy sauce, chili paste, worcestershire, vinegars, crushed tomatoes, sesame oil etc.

It's a hefty initial investment, but one that saves you money in the long run, plus you'd be amazed how much your meal options open up when you've got more in your pantry than salt + pepper and Sriracha.
