"RuPaul’s Drag Race" star Jinkx Monsoon, who plays the over-the-top villain Maestro in the new "Doctor Who," says, "Who gives a f--- what bigots think?" in response to the racist, homophobic backlash Ncuti Gatwa — the 15th Doctor — has faced because of his casting.

Apparently the doctor is a homosexual black man now and the shows big villain is a campy drag queen?
This tweet makes it seem like chuds are big mad about this but none of my algo's chud culture warrior people even talk about Doctor Who anymore. I can't imagine there's anyone left to really get angry….

Feels like the whole fandom was propped up by tumblr girls jerking off to Matt Smith and David Tennant so as soon as they replaced them with an old dude it sort of collapsed

Doctor Who was played as gay in the 1960s.
The writers didn't intend it but the actors played it that way and it was picked up on, creating a big gay following for the show since then.
IDK if anyone watches it now- I haven't watched it since the late 80s.

Bongchuds do, due to a fricking Bong law that all Bongs must pay a fricking disproportionate amount of attention to Bong culture so that they can pretend theyre still relevant on the fricking international level

The complete viewer numbers from 2005-2022, according to Reddit.
https://old.reddit.com/r/doctorwho/comments/yiquay/the_complete_viewer_ratings_from_20052022_details/
It's viewership since the relaunch has definitely declined (by about a third, I'd estimate), but people are clearly still watching it.
I'm not, tho.

TV Viewers are a special breed of consumer.
At it's peak, Too Gear reached around 7m viewers, you'd expect it to go down after the OG trio left. And it did, but somehow, after like 7 years of fricking around with mostly shitty cast, they still retained 4.5m for the latest season.

To be fair, the producers still try to kill the presenters from time to time so it's worth a watch.
Also, cars are cool and fun to watch even if the presenters are a bit dull. The show ran for about a decade before Clarkson joined in the 90s. The 'OG trio' were not actually the OG...

I'd actually guess it peaked with the relaunch since it's heavily disney-marketed/different doctors, but definitely dropping fast. Decreasing viewers for specials is a really bad sign

Yea the wibbly wobbly time soy completely killed it for me.
The stories became too self indulgent too. The classic stories were generally slower paced with the Doctor playing a more background role before figuring out the plot and resolving it.
The new stories just drop him straight into being the hero and made him le ebin time messiah instead of just some time travelling autist adventurer.
