It really seems so simple. Like, if life in Cuba is shitty now, and it's because of it's current economic system, then when life was shitty in Cuba decades ago you gotta figure it was because of their past economic system.
But somehow there are two different standards. The fact that Cuba is still poor is the fault of communism, but the fact that they were desperately poor after over fifty years under the thumb of American capitalists is...not the fault of America or capitalism?

One's a totalitarian system where every decision is made centrally by a committee at the best of times and more commonly by a dictator, the other is a liberal system where individuals can make their own decisions freely.
Capitalism isn't so much a system as the lack of a system. It's the emergent economics of liberal democracy.
Capitalism leads to crushing poverty and suffering to the working class by the elites. Wealth is aggregated into the hands of a select few who oppress those βbeneath their economic station. The only reason that capitalism has lasted as long as it has is due to implementation of βsocialistβ policies to keep it in check.
Your Laissez-faire capitalist society doesn't exist beca It was tried and failed.
If you want a specific example you can look into coal mining company towns.
Any chance of economic mobility, for which the proponents of the system praise, is crushed once enough wealth/power is funneled into the hands of a few

the main motivation for commies is envy, that's why they don't even bother thinking seriously about how they would actually run their supposed utopia, never mind thinking about how to reach their utopia from how the world is today. they just want to destroy what works. they don't think further than that.
"my neighbor is more successful than me, he has to be brought down a peg!" -- that's the essence of commie thought. it never goes much deeper than that.

That's a tacit acknowledgement that it's a shitty system. All the commies in the world together couldn't even shake a single capitalist country without violent intervention, never mind the US.
Your pet ideology will not be afforded the luxury of existing in a vacuum, especially not when its cornerstone motive is to tear down other systems.

The bit you missed between #1 and #2 is the invasion of Poland by the Soviets. And then their alliance with the Axis. And then their century-long attempt to undermine literally every democracy on the planet.

all failures of communism are rooted in reality not being fantasy.
even if we grant that a quarter of all commies have good intentions, they have huge ideological blind spots, and their plans are so incredibly juvenile, if they even bother making any plans at all.

Yeah you gotta take responsibility for your poor life decisions and be a good person so your government can give you back your government handouts.
