when i was in high school one of my teachers used to tell a story from when she was a cool teen
she said she was fat. like...fat. her and 3 friends were in a car wreck. doors wouldn't open, but it had a sun roof! turns out, she was too fat to go through it. they were all convinced the car was going to explode because of tv/movies. the 3 friends decided to die with her and they tearfully waited for death by explosion.
i tell this story to highlight that people are dumb and think cars are going to explode in giant fireballs because they saw it in every movie or tv show ever mad.

Im not sure if im getting different advice but what ive gotten is you take charge if you know what you're even slightly doing and give specific directions ("you, call 911", "you, go see if person A is hurt", "you go see if person b is hurt").
Been in that situation a couple times. Once i at least got us kinda on track until the cops arrived, the other i just froze up cause adrenaline. Emergencies are weird.
