"It's just a prank, bro" [POLICE CALLED]

Office Prank gone wrong

The guys at my work always do a prank on new starters.

They wait till they've gone for lunch, and the victim comes in to find us all listening to the ‘radio' in shock.

What's actually been played is a fictional podcast dramatising news being reported about a nuclear bomb going off in the states.

Everyone is like ‘OMG', the new starter gets a fright and they we all go ‘wheeeeey'

Hilarious. Right?

Anyway, I am not the ring leader but I did participate.

This was done on a lady yesterday who, we didn't know, has lots of family in Washington DC, the state ‘where the bomb killed everyone'

She went into absolute shock, to the point where we nearly called an ambo.

Luckily the manager calmed her down and got her into a relaxed state but now she has left and is going on about calling the police on all of us.

I am really scared as even though it wasn't my idea I still ‘joined in'

Am I screwed? I'm really worried

Uhhh, ackshully

You could be fired for misconduct.

There's likely a law you could be charged under as well.

Possibly CRIMINAL CODE 1899 - SECT 359E

Stalking, intimidation, harassment.

Also captured under the WHS act for hazing & bullying.

“psychosocial hazards at work, including psychological and physical harm.”

I actually hope she takes it further and you guys get punished to the full extent possible.

Hey Sheila mate, before you go for lunch just tell us, you don't happen to have any relatives in Washington DC do you? You know in the United States? Just curious is all.

Prank safety should be everyone's number one priority in planning a safe, sane and consensual prank.

This shit is considered "light" compared to the "pranks" they do to apprentices in trades.

When my uncle was an apprentice his boss asked him to get a 'long weight' from the parts counter.

Took him 20 minutes to figure that one out :turtoiserofl:

People that think this way work in high-turnover service industries where HR staff usually isn't on-site. Actual wagies thinking they know more than DEI HR girlbosses.
