i will never understand how there actually are "people" walking around with no thoughts or inner monologue. baffling but also eye opening considering the current state of the world

You understand how some babies are born with the umbilical wrapped around their neck?

I have heard some speculate that it is a learned ability, something you aquire by practicing. I used to be so drawn to the stories I made up in my head that it would interfere with my school work. I can imagine stuff with my eyes open and while walking around, so I can believe that.

Personal experience has taught me that there are people that will do just about anything to avoid thinking.

I think these people are just r-slurred and just don't understand what inner monologue and visualization actually are

Looking at OPs post history and he sounds unironically low iq. I'm guessing the lack/limitation of inner monologue is just low mental horsepower. As lazy as we are, thinking is usually really advantageous especially in terms of getting things we want.

I know someone who is unable to mentally picture things, but she completely btfos me when it comes to words and language. I think brains are just balanced one way or the other.

Maybe it's because you're r-slurred too?

Do people mean they have an internal narrator when they refer to an internal monologue or do they mean "thinking about what they're going to do and how certain actions will impact them in the future?"
