I agree but the camera is fining people for going 6 over... to me thats bs. Especially when on my daily drive to the gym I see the worst of the worst drivers, doing 90 in a 60 etc and no consequences for them? But cause Im going 56 km in a 50 zone I get a hefty fine? (7)
So don't go 6 over? If you are not capable of driving the speed limit, maybe don't drive. (-14)

So from your post history it seems like you got popped going too fast and are mad about it. Like, why not sack up and admit that you were in the wrong, instead of doubling down? Most people speed. It's generally fine. But there are some places where it is more risky/dangerous and there need to be measures in places to prevent it. Why not just comply for just a little while so that you, I dunno, don't kill a kid or something. It's really not too much to ask to be a tiny bit considerate about other people. (7)

The problem is that I think this camera has made me a worse driver. I spend more time watching my speedometer than I do watching the road. If I'm driving normally, I wouldn't need to care if I'm going 5-10 over the limit. But now I have a very small margin I need to stick to which means I'm more prone to missing things I wouldn't have missed otherwise. (-2)

I drive the limit, but everyone else doesn't. I drive the limit, I got some guy behind me honking or yelling at me, and lets be realistic 99% of drivers go a little over the limit. Im saying that the camera will fine people for going 6 km over the limit which I think is total BS and is just a way to take more money from Canadians. In many cases you need to "keep the flow of traffic" going by going a few km over. If you think 6km over is "bad driving" you dont drive in Newmarket. The amount of terrible driving I see on the daily and people doing 90+ in a 50 or 60 zone is more common than not. Why punish people for keeping up with traffic over a measly 6km? (1)

Ever tried to keep the speed exactly on point? Like 50 and not a single klick over? You are constantly hypnotising the odometer at the expenses of situational awareness. (1)

I would be ok with speed cameras if they raised speed limits everywhere by 10-20mph. But raise that point and you get thousands of whiners because these social r-slurs can't understand a rule being designed to be enforced practically rather than literally.

The real problem with speed cameras is they're repeatedly proven not to actually alter behavior in most cases. First off, you usually get the ticket 2-3 weeks later, so you've probably been speeding the whole time anyway, and because they can't prove who was driving, they also don't put demerits on your license, so there's no effect on your insurance rates. That basically means it's just a speed toll, and if they wanted to just say that and let you rip down the road at 100mph as long as you can afford the fee, I'd be fine with it. Otherwise, put an actual speed trap there and hand out real tickets with real demerits.
