Thunk like a doctor #Why am I getting 7pm call

Patient (24 y/oF) presents to the ER and labs are done due to obvious leukemia. Peripheral blood labs shows 92% blasts, flow 97% blasts, cytogenetics showed multiple abnormal markers and patient having 32 chromosomes. Fever of 103.6, kidney failure, anemia with 2.2, thrombocytopenia ant 7.5k, leukocytes I forget but lab report had red !! so obvious pancytopenia. Obvious case of expiring within the week. I'll try to keep this easy. Why was she referred to pediatrics and why was she given a week to survive.
