It wasn't "widely used" until late-2021, but it comes from Kitty Kelley's unauthorized biography of Nancy Reagan, which was published in 1991. Not that this idiot or any of the writers on The Boys know that.

A biography written during or shortly after someone's lifetime with zero input from the subject. Theoretically, they have the capacity to be more objective since the subject isn't trying to distort things to make himself look good, but in practice, they tend to be salacious rags more concerned with gossip than truth. And Kitty Kelley is a huge part of that, since her work is the template the modern form of the genre is built off of. A true drama queen, !besties.
