Another banger prediction from r/markmywords: MMW: With the continued dumbing down of education in red states, blue state colleges and universities will begin to actively reject any applicants who received an education in red states.

Where do these people get their information? If we go by a private ranking system like U.S. News & World Report, we get this. I'm not gonna list all 50 states, but let's take a look at the top, middle, and bottom.
That's a pretty even spread, all things considered. A little heavier on red states towards the bottom, but not significantly so. And I'm sure Redditors would hate that Florida and Utah are at the top, while California and Vermont are in the same tier as Ohio and North Dakota.
Of course, that includes higher education. What if we limit it to Pre-K through 12th grade? And maybe take it even further to college readiness specifically, since their whole contention is kids from red states can't hack it in college.
That's right, Florida is still near the top, and Oregon and California are below fricking Mississippi. That said, it does seem like the top and bottom of the list are mostly blue, while the center is fairly red. Maybe education has more factors than partisan politics? Nah, couldn't be.
And !effortposters, there's a second comment coming, so stay tuned.

Of course, my previous comment was based on U.S. News & World Report's rankings. That's just one outlet, and a private one at that. What if we take a look at the federal government's rankings, based on the National Assessment of Educational Progress?
I'll be listing states by average score in 2022, but I'll include the other two metrics as well. As for caveats, the data for Grade 12 stops at 2013, so we'll have to stick with Grade 8. Science and Writing don't list data more recent than 2015 and 2007, so this is just Mathematics and Reading. And I'm including the District of Columbia, but not the Department of Defense Education Activity or Puerto Rico, since they're enormous outliers. Plus, Puerto Rico only has data for Mathematics.
If we go with this list, Idaho, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Utah are clearly the places to be, and Alabama, D.C., New Mexico, Oklahoma, and West Virginia should be avoided at all costs. With the exception of Idaho and D.C. (which was excluded), that lines up pretty closely with U.S. News. And once again, we see that partisan politics don't determine the quality of a state's education.
