I think if it's censorship, it's the admins, not the jannies. Reason being, even places like /r/moderatepolitics (where the mods are actually pretty neutral) and /r/conservative (pro-Trump) are experiencing this issue.

Yep, the admins probably got a message from the DNC halfway through the debate telling them to :#marseyshutitdown:, started off with fricking up the /r/politics comments and realised it would be too obvious if they didn't cripple the whole site.
