What does becoming a member of the Order get you? Discounts off your favourite burger from Harvey's? No, but you can put O.C. in your bio and your resumes so everyone asks you "what does OC mean in your bio?" for the rest of your life.
I'm proud of Avril, like me she's never denounced or tried to obscure her Canadian-ness like most of our celebrities do. And apparently she's done a lot to help kids with Lyme's disease which she herself suffers from... And we can always agree we respect her for her habit of spitting at paparazzi and reporters.

She deserves it. She's been a rock solid, innovative musician for 20 years now. She experiments within reason and writes and records what she wants and with the exception of GL it's all been top tier, and even GL was worth a try.

Goodbye Lullaby, some weird experimental quasi-acoustic/all-ballads album from 2011. It didn't work but it did give us What The Heck, the album's singular pop track, which is still one of her best. Followed up with a self-titled return to form two years later which was a quality followup to BDT, then 2019's Head Above Water kind of flopped because she collabbed tell hard and leaned into black music too hard but as with GL it was worth a try. Love Sux in 2022 is arguably better than even BDT and it's the single greatest collection of summer music of all time, but imo it's too short to dethrone BDT which, 17 years on, remains the best pop album ever released.
She writes and records when she wants to, makes a shitton of money, does personal things during the long pauses between albums, puts out an actual work of art on her own terms and repeats. The celebrity is incidental, she's just an artist.
