her job is to support Biden. if Biden steps aside and Harris gets the nomination, it looks better for her if she did her job prior to that, rather than appear as a power-hungry traitor

If the public perceives her as a traitor - which they will if she joined in on bashing her president as VP - that would be negative for her.
