Tbh, American produce is so fricking bad that I almost don't blame the rightoids for this one. This shit is selected for: 1) how long it can last in the back of a truck, and 2) what it looks like on the shelves*. It's really abysmal and I think people only put up with it because most Americans have never tasted actually good produce.

*Possibly also 3) how well it handles being exposed to massive amounts of pesticides.

Mostly true, but everyone in America also has access to good produce if they want it through farmer markets or just out of the back of cleetus' pickup truck on the side of the highway who has grown watermelons his whole life. As usual, Americans have access to the best of everything and are still the best at consooming.

I've tried local farmers' market stuff in the US multiple times and was disappointed by it. I don't know how it's even possible, but I've had better tasting mass produced produce over in Russia than the local farmers' market stuff I've tried in the US. And Russia is not a place that, historically, has had a well-organized agricultural system, it was a total shitshow under the Soviets for example.
