It's not very challenging to calculate a 20% tip. (-17)

If you can't tip more than $5 on a $100, eat at home. $5 doesn't get you anywhere these days. (-10)

The server has to pay taxes on what you DIDN'T tip, butthole! (-15)

I never said you/anyone has to be generous. Tips are OPTIONAL. People can choose to not be generous (for whatever reason/s) or be generous. If someone can't afford it, then they can't. If they just financially stingy, then that's okay too. I'm sure you would reject a decent tip if someone wants to tip you for something regardless of what it is, riiiiiight????It's not bad to leave a nice tip and to be financially nice to servers who deserve it and go the extra mile. Or anyone for that matter. Could be someone crying in grocery check out line because they don't have enough for food because some unexpected charge came through. Letting someone with 2 items get in front of your full butt cart (assuming they don't ask in a I owe you a cut type of way ), then offer the cut if time permits. Could be some old man/woman trying to put something heavy in their cart at Home Depot and offering to help them. Even something as simple as letting that car with their blinker on well ahead of time ge... (1)

The only time I ever chased after a guest about a, is when they left with both copies of the chit (receipt) or forgot to sign. When I was waiting tables full-time, about 8ish years ago, we would just talk shit behind the guests back, remember then, and give then the worst server in the worst section next time.Waiting tables is a sales job - it's a numbers game. Sometimes you get no tip, sometimes you get an shitty tip, sometimes you get an okay tip, and sometimes you get a big tip. (1)

Some of these comments have me getting closer and closer to tipping no one ever. I'm not sure why servers get pissy about people not tipping what the server assumes they deserve. Get pissed at yourself for not getting a better job, get pissed at the person who owns the restaurant who won't end tip wage and pay you more. (14)

I don't care if this gets downvoted, but most of you non tippers have no business sitting down in a restaurant and expecting someone to serve you. The servers don't dictate the policies, and your cheap b.s doesn't change anything. All you do is ruin someone's night. Shame on you. (-8)

Then they get paid their wage according to law and they can't hide that money from the government (this is fascism).

I still don't understand why people tip in percentages at all. Why would a server deserve more extra money for bringing me a $50 steak than they would for bringing me a $15 Burger? Makes 0 sense to me, as it's the exact same effort. If anything, chefs should be tipped in percentages because there's a lot more skill and effort going into more expensive dishes. Pumping the chick who walks the food to my table full of money because she just so happens to carry something expensive is so r-slurred that that system could only have developed in the US :marseymutt:
