Ukrain Releasing Prisoners (Including Murderers) To Help Fight Against Russia - Redditors Say This Is "Smart"

https://old.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/1dssgqk/ukraine_is_releasing_thousands_of_prisoners_so/

Although Ukraine does not announce any details of troop deployment numbers or casualties,

:#marseyhmm:

Many of the inmates at the Dnipropetrovsk penal colony also asked to be identified only by their first names to avoid difficulties if they enlist.

I'm sorry? Penal colony? Sounds like Ukraine is really a great place!

Another inmate, 30, who gave his name only as Volodymyr, makes rivets at a penal colony workshop. He said he plans to volunteer after his sentence ends in one year, but wouldn't do so now because there's effectively no home leave under the parole program.

No home leave under the parole program.

Those convicted of r*pe, sexual assault, murdering two or more people or crimes against Ukraine's national security aren't eligible

Meanwhile in Russia those are the ones they want

Honestly it's smart

The person who robbed a shop but is now willing to fight in order to have there sentence communited is fine

It means more manpower while less resources are spent on the prisons

This has to be peak Reddit brain. Didn't even read what he was citing.

But they're still letting murderers with only one kill fight?

Yes, but that's a good thing!

Most of the time if you've only killed one person it was a crime of passion or you thought you had a good reason. Generally easier to rehab than someone who has killed repeatedly.
