That's pretty much exactly what Trump is looking for imo. He wanted a guy who won't overshadow him popularity-wise with anyone (Vance won't), is spineless enough that he won't challenge Trump on policy positions (Vance is), and is young enough that he can be set up as "the new face of Republicans after Trump pt. 2" (we'll see how that goes).

Yup I think that's the Republican dream right now. Get Vance in the public eye, clean up his "never Trump" image, and give him a few years to try and win over the base. If it works, great, you've got a new, young face of the Republican party ready to go in '28. If it doesn't, no problem, you still have at least 3 years to pivot to someone new if Vance isn't taking after year 1.
