Funny enough prohibition did reduce alcohol rates and crimes but increased drug trade and organized crime. Whether it was a net positive or negative is hard to tell because it created a system that was increased by the following war on drugs.

There was a minimum of 36 years between Prohibition and the war on drugs, that is plenty of time to figure it out.

Heck, there's 47 years between Nixon's war on drugs and Reagan's war on drugs - and Reagan's war is what people usually mean

Not really when prohibition started the international transfer of alcohol and drugs that laid the groundwork for the inevitable uprisings of cartels. Small seeds lead to large trees in 50 years.
