As he recovers from Covid, the president has grown resentful toward Democratic congressional leaders and former President Barack Obama. :marseychud:

Sick with Covid and abandoned by allies, President Biden has been fuming at his Delaware beach house, increasingly resentful about what he sees as an orchestrated campaign to drive him out of the race and bitter toward some of those he once considered close, including his onetime running mate Barack Obama.

Mr. Biden has been around politics long enough to assume that the leaks appearing in the media in recent days are being coordinated to raise the pressure on him to step aside, according to people close to him. He considers Representative Nancy Pelosi, the former House speaker, the main instigator, but is irritated at Mr. Obama as well, seeing him as a puppet master behind the scenes.

But several people close to Mr. Biden, who insisted on anonymity to discuss internal matters, described an under-the-weather president coughing and hacking more than a hundred miles from the corridors of power as his presidency meets its most perilous moment.

He has watched with rising exasperation as a succession of news stories appeared, one after the other, reporting that Mr. Schumer, Ms. Pelosi, Mr. Obama and Representative Hakeem Jeffries of New York, the House Democratic leader, all had warned of a devastating defeat for the party in November.

And he certainly noticed that Mr. Obama has not done anything to help him in recent days even as his own former aides publicly have led the way in calling on Mr. Biden to withdraw in what was interpreted, rightly or wrongly, as a message from the former president's camp. The unseen but clearly felt presence of Mr. Obama in particular has brought a Shakespearean quality to the drama now playing out, given their eight-year partnership.

Fuccck

Let's hope Biden does the greatest comeback in Anime

This is really going to get messy. Biden (or those closest to him) is not going to go willingly and the Democrats are really on the horns of a dilemma: if he won't go, they have to dump him by force, and that won't look good. If they stick with him, chances are Trump is gonna win. If they get rid of him, who will they pick instead? And that still gives Trump a chance to win.

If by some miracle they get Joe to step down, get a compromise candidate the party will get behind, and manage to win the election, then it all works out. But that's a lot of "ifs" and at any step disaster may loom.

Worst case? They split the party into fractions over this, the pro-Biden camp feel betrayed and backstabbed, the other candidates are clawing each other's eyes out to get the nomination, and they end up losing anyway, which leads to bitter recriminations and blame being passed back and forth. They end up looking like the bad guys anyway for how they ruthlessly dumped Biden, and they get nothing out of it.

And here was me thinking this was going to be a boring re-run of 2020!

Unironically if the dem party was even a quarter as demonic as rightoids say, they would sicc and assassin on Biden. As long as their complicity remains hidden, it would be their best shot ( !carlos ) at still winning the election

Imagine how funny it would be if both presidential candidates survived an assassination

Would be pretty fitting for the state od things. And another opportunity for the parties to get over the winguck shit, that they would inevitably waste.

Yeah they really backed themselves into a corner with Kamala. Not only is she the clear replacement because she's Biden's running mate and it would be a smoother transition, but any attempt to bypass her would result in Democrats eating crow for their whole "we need a Black Woman" bullshit that got her installed in the first place. And if she was forced out unwillingly - and I think it would have to be that, because she seems to be ambitious and I'm sure she wants to run - it'll be even worse. But she's unpopular and her 2020 performance was pathetic. I don't think she's really improved in any meaningful way since then either, she's basically just been coasting for 4 years.

If it's not Joe or Kamala, the donor money they've raised is gone with only a handful of months left.

I believe Joe can technically send the money to the DNC which can send it to the next candidate, but he would have to do so willingly. And he seems awfully stubborn so I doubt that'll happen.

The DNC can receive the money and coordinate with any successor ticket over the spending of about $30M. The rest would have to be spent uncoordinated.

He's going to be like Ginsberg and let his hubris tank the party so his aging ego can continue to feel important

Never forget all the articles about Ginsberg's fitness immediately before her death. Like her, Biden is an old narcissist clinging on to the only thing he actually knows, consolidating power. They never understand that others are doing the same at any given moment and the feeding has turned towards them lol

What's more important, a 1% chance for Dr Jill Biden to stay in the spotlight for a couple months longer, or literally christofascism taking over the country?

Jill Biden living out her First Lady fantasies of course.
