Not so fast chud. Literally everyone was on Israel's side at the start of the war and was all for bringing Hamas to justice.

It wasn't until Israel started bombing civilians - sometimes even bombing areas they told civilians would be safe just days prior - that people started to turn against Israel.

The general public consensus was pro-Israel at the start I feel. There's been "free Palestine" types for decades. That changed when it was clear Israel was more interested in just wiping the entire Gaza Strip off the map once and for all.

Other replies have already talked about the celebrations, but what was more pervasive was acting like it's too complex to take sides -- quietly declining to identify Hamas as terrorists deserving of forceful elimination.

Even the people who accepted the necessity of eliminating Hamas spinelessly refused to accept the implication: that Israel will visit war on Gaza until Hamas is gone or surrendered (unconditionally or nearly so).

The same people failed to accept the implications of hostage rescue, too.

Such "support" for the hostages and Israel here is worse than useless. It masquerades caring while refusing to accept the what that means.
