I keep an iphone for like 4-5 years. Apple offers battery replacements for like 90$ which will easily extend the life another 4 years if nothing else is wrong. I think people are still just coping over Apple slowing down older phones on newer IOS's to preserve battery (a thing which is now an optional user controlled setting) and was like barely noticeable when I was rocking a 4S and later an 8 way past their expiration date.

But it's very noticeable that my airpod pros work like absolute dog shit since they released the airpod pro 2s and updated the firmware.
