Let this be an example of why I stopped trying to argue with rightoids. this person is so wildly r-slurred, so detached from reality he physically cannot comprehend how numbers work. When backed into a corner and proven wrong he falls back on the "the cabal is covering x thing I believe up, so I'm not actually wrong" gambit.
What is the cabal covering up today? the size of the US electorate, apparently - you see, the population doesn't have more voting age adults every 4 years.

Destiny is right about rightoids.
There's an account on Twitter that I really like called I/O. He's great because he often points out how black people have lower IQs so a bunch of rightoids always celebrate the account BUT they really don't like when he points out the fact that rightoids are also as r-slurred as BIPOCS.
I'm on the left and that means I have mental illness. You're on the right and that means you're mentally r-slurred.
No, the deep state is not out to get you. There's no such thing. You're just a fricking idiot. There's no grand conspiracy it's just a conglomeration of ultra-rich weird fricks all trying to get their piece of the pie and if you think anybody's in control, it's because your life is sad and pathetic and you can't deal with the fact that this world is random. If you had any self-respect at all, you would keep yourself safe for even believing such a thing. You'll read this and self-reflect for a moment, but you wake up in the morning and forget all about it because you can't handle dealing with the truth.
I hate all of you that believe this bullshit and the world would be better if you weren't in it but unlike you I can deal with reality. I know you won't because you're too fricking stupid to do what's right.
If you've ever listened to Alex Jones and thought "wow, he's right!" I want you to know that I truly believe the world would be better if you took a shotgun stuck in your mouth and blew your brains off the back of your head. This is not a joke. I'm not kidding. Keep yourself safe
Anyways, good night everyone and I hope you have a great weekend!

What a boring post, you're much more interesting sober. And I have some thoughts about what you said, since I did self-reflect as you directed. Skip to the end if you want something pithy.
The deep state, as you call it, is real, it's just not out to get us, we're just not a priority, and that includes you buddy. I've been a government ghoul for a number of years, and mostly politicians slice off a part of government services to give to the vendors and privately held partnerships that now vend corporate services masquerading as government services. The deep state isn't the massive ranks of civil servants who are just trying to get by with a comfortable job, it's the ambitious consultancy class of people that see the public pot as a way to get rich quick. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't.
For example, did you know that in 1995, child support services were contracted out to the private sector? Public services are now provided by the private sector in 20 states in 1995 for children, and do you think that number has increased or decreased since then? I live in a state that still believes in public service, very red too. And we frequently get lawsuits from private companies and parents who are sponsored by private companies to sue us to shake loose the services away from government control. Sometimes, there are legitimate problems behind the state and the way it does child care, support and protective services. But do you want a system that not only pays public servants garbage money, and also contracts out most services to the private sector, cuts budgets, and then loudly proclaims government is the problem.
If Afghanistan, or Ukraine, or Iraq, or Israel wanted a trillion dollars, and we wanted a trillion dollars to be spent on opioids harm reduction coupled with drug enforcement, who do you think gets the money? Smart money says not us. You're talking down to "rightoids" because you think it's funny to dunk on poor people, who may or mostly are white working class men and women who's livelihoods have been eroded by direct government action or inaction at specific times. Opioid epidemic for twenty years? That's a no can do buddy, not our problem. We need to bomb Yugoslavia. Oh you want to finish your job at the coal mine and get your pension? Sorry dude, but you have to go back to school at fifty, and here's $50 million for a region that's more populous than Taiwan, good luck. BTW we're cutting social security.
Is Taiwan going to be invaded? You bet we're going to defend them to the last man in Alabama and Tennessee. Oh shit are you getting gunned down by cartels on the border, or are you being threatened by gang bangers in Atlanta? Well frick dude, if you just paid reparations and defunded the police maybe your cousin would have his brain blown back together thanks to Da'Quan realizing the error of his ways now that he has all your money. I've always found it curious how consultants in various organizations that help privatize the government overwhelming back Democrats. Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, Guidehouse are all in the tank lopsided for Democrats, earning the most money, and funneling back into their pockets through vendor agreements, spun out services etc.
You're laughing at people who are in a bad spot, that you yourself are in as well. You're mocking someone, people, who are angry, upset and confused and are lashing out in a way that could only help them in their microcosm. Is Trump going to make us look good to our allies and make sure that lines on the map don't change? No, he won't, and that was never why people voted for him. No one gives a flying frick if Ukraine exists tomorrow if they're sane. No one gives a frick about whether or not the State Department has an easier time spinning Mommy Kamala or Biden or Shillary as opposed to Trump. No one here works for the State Department. More people on this website, and online, and in the voting booths, work for coal, oil and gas companies that keep your fricking lights on. We're pawns in a system that is burning down this country, and you're an idiot for thinking you're going to make it or be special somehow if this country goes down the tubes. You have more in-common with some neoconfederate hick from West Virginia than you do with some New York billionaire, let alone a top. You're on the sinking ship, not only denying that the ship has foundered, but you're mocking people trying to do something to change that. Is Trump the answer? Probably not, but I wouldn't exactly say anyone in the halls of Congress, the Senate, the White House is the answer either. A total outsider with zero vested interest and complete apathy towards common people would likely be a morale boost, and improvement, over the comically evil morons who run the government in the name of "Freedom & Democracy."
Most people, you included, are r-slurred. Most people will put their blinders on and not realize that they're fricking r-slurred. You are one of them, I am one of them, and we are both small people with big problems. The world seems random to people who cannot fathom what collaboration can be like beyond their office space or work from home job. People farm animals and wheat to give to processing plants to give to cities which in turn pays taxes to the government which ideally wouldn't be gamified and evil. That's more collaboration than has ever existed in most of human history. You collaborated with some hick in the backcountry when you bought his product of pork or beef or wheat, it wasn't random, all very intentional. Just like the problems I've described above are intentionally neglected, nurtured or promoted. Thinking that being a nihilist for one idiotic reason or another makes you immune to the ebb and flow of corruption and the loosening of morals, family and government isn't a good thing, it's a bad thing. There is right and wrong in the universe, and you are wrong to be indifferent and to accept less from your public servants, elected officials, masters of state. You are wrong to believe that there is nothing wrong in this country, just like conservatives are wrong to believe everything is wrong in this country. What makes America great isn't the 2nd Amendment, the tax base, the history, it's the people. When a government goes rogue and sees us as a system to exploit and use for Great Game politics and commodifies us for global resource exchanges, that's also wrong. Actual conservatism, one that promotes the national interest with the understanding that a nation is a culture of individuals who share an identity and discards left-right policy dogma and just does what works to conserve the nation, that's what conservatism is supposed to be.
If you can believe it, progressivism was not about transing kids or spreading HIV with no consequences, it was about promoting the common man's welfare, introducing technology and science in the workplace, and trying new things, like policies, theories and such. Now it's just a catch all ideology for people who have no business of being in a school zone, either by choice because they have no children, or because they're perverts. I've articulated conservative iterations of global economics, class struggle, progressive ideology and governing because conservatism isn't libertarians having no government like it does in the modern USA, it's an actual coherent life philosophy that tends to be the answer in most moments of human history.
I think it's telling that you as a self proclaimed liberal, progressive whatever, would sincerely encourage people who are struggling and scared to kill themselves, because they have the audacity to think that maybe billionaires don't have their best interests at heart, and that they may have more power than the common man thanks to a systemically broken campaign finance system they wrote and broke themselves. Points that you, on any other day, if uttered by Rachel Maddow or whatever cult leader you follow, you'd agree with.
The real joke is that you think, in your random universe, there's a soul in Washington DC that would care if you weren't here tomorrow. My bottom line is this: There is no reason to hate your common man and fellow citizen, there is no reason to believe billionaires act in good faith, and that finally, you should know God loves you.
Just had to share some thoughts. Hope you're doing well and that you're having a good night.

So basically the US is doing a terrible job on 98 different levels, but it's not because of the deep state because the deep state is not real (yes it is real but the government has to act in the best interests of the American people which is why they aren't doing a good job) but it's because of a bunch of people who want to control the country for their own benefit. The US is doomed unless we vote for Trump as the next president, and if you don't vote for Trump you should keep yourself safe.

Yeah that's cool and all but it's basically my entire point. The Deep State isn't a shadowy cabal of Klaus Shwab and Bill Gates controlling everything based on some depopulation plan. It's thousands of competing interests, some good most just selfish. I thought it would be clear from the context that when I say "random", that's what I'm talking about.
The United States is far from perfect, but we're quite a bit better than most other countries, and poor dumbasses voting to throw a hand grenade into the middle of the system just shows what fricking dumbasses we all are.
Like, I've heard this whole "woe is me" excuse and justification for Trump a million times, and I just don't buy it. "Oh no our government isn't perfect let's vote in the most r-slurred freak the nation has ever seen!" Frick off with that shit. Dude is the living avatar of everything you're complaining about.
I'm not telling the poor innocent conservatives of rdrama to kill themselves because they correctly recognize that there's problems in our government. I'm telling them to kill themselves because they think that 5G is controlling them with nanochips because Alex Jones told them so, and Donald Trump is the savior of the Nation.
Acting like it's some nobel philosophy while simultaneously mindlessly regurgitating some of its worst excesses ("leftoids are all perverts!") and accusing me of repeating Rachel Maddow is truly the absolute best example of the bullshit I'm talking about, thank you.
Crazy how everybody that says this thinks the answer is voting for the far right or far left.

Pull on any thread in Deep State bullshit and you rapidly get to a really simple question. What happened in the Cold War? There's two scenarios:
The deep state was massive, employing hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of people who were completely loyal for decades. We managed to completely dupe the Soviets for all that time, which is why they never had any evidence of it. And somehow in your entire life you never met any of their kids? None of your friends met any of their kids?
The other scenario is that the Cold War wasn't real. The Soviets knew because they've been part of it all along. Now you're departing from r-slur world and entering schizo world. Everything we believe we know about the world is a lie. Well if that's the case, why would you even care about the machinations of the deep state? They essentially are God.

sigh
There are thousands of different businesses in your city.
A local politician comes in and says if you vote for me I will lower business tax which will frick over 10% of local residents who aren't businesses.
The businessmen, without knowing every other businessman, nor having interactions or a large meeting, in the majority of cases end up voting for the local politician even though it fricks over others in the community because they all ran businesses and learned that you make the choice that helps businesses.
Now apply the same logic to politicians whose kids grew up in the same environments inculcated with the same education and ideals.
The deep state in practice is generally just the state who all end up voting for their interests or beliefs first that might not necessarily converge with the interests of the common man.
Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
BIPOC, everyone already does that. Everyone.
Unintended outcomes (negative externalities) of government decision-making are inevitable. It's impossible for politicians to maximize or center on "the interests of the common man." There's no way to measure it, so they simply say that they are.
Having self-interest, which is normal, isn't indicative of a deep state.

What are you getting at, bb?
People generally operate in accordance with "self-interest." In economics, we have this archetype of a person who is 100% self-centered, which is realistic, but it's just a working assumption to let us play with the rest of a model. In the real world, people are mostly like that, but there's degrees of "other interest" as with one's family, friends, acquantainces, and basically down to nothing when we're talking about People of Tent or faceless future generations.
I'm always of the opinion that people are largely self-interested. Even voting for "the sake of others" is just a feel-good act for one's self (and of course to show your peers that you are a Good Person).
Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
What @Grue is getting at is that politicians and bureaucrats voting in their own interests causes spontaneously organization which could be called deep state, especially because of their specific special interests (remain in power and arrange working retirement out of public service).
And the cowtools available too them goodness gracious. They have the power too pivot what their interests even are, by weight of power, if we look at politicians and bureaucrats as a class.

People honestly don't vote their own interests. The average fly-over rural Republican voter is a hard-bitten communist -- they think farming and manual labor are the only "real American" jobs, they hate educated coastal elites, they hate city folk, they hate rich people, etc.
But the Republican party sells them on the "we are the Moral Christian Party" window dressing, hitching their vote to their ability to go to heaven.
The rest of the platform can change to anything but typically does jack shit in their interest.
The only Deep State is my balls but that's a different thesis.

There are proven examples of deep states operating in other countries though. It's a similar phenomenon too MK-ULTRA where the topic draws schizo conspiracy theorists in like moths too a flame which makes it seem like just another r-slurred conspiracy theory by association.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_state_in_Turkey
https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/article/the-deep-state-how-egypts-shadow-state-won-out/
When informal institutions consisting of intelligence, military, businessmen, politicians, and organized criminals or some mix of these start working together too secretly influence government through both legal and illegal methods, and they are able too do so successfully, a deep state has formed. Deep states were responsible for terrorist attacks and assassinations in the latter half of the 20th century in several countries.

You could argue the same thing in a different way that says the limited government controls/interference allows for people to do whatever they want with guaranteed safety and rights no matter who's in power/ trying to push an agenda. The r-slurred argument is that all the myriad of people vying for power are somehow all working together. They're not. They fight all the god darned time.
I mean just think about it - do rightoids REALLY think that the government can run a conspiracy involving hundreds if not thousands of willing participants to orchestrate the whole darn thing and that none of them would ever leak anything? Like I'm sure some people are exerting undue influence, but the whole organized deep state thing is

Part of the issue is that you get something like a Snowden where a government agency is doing something to the people that's secret and then when someone leaks it the conspiracies immediately assume it's the tip of the iceberg. Here's what I dislike about leftwing people, they might be right about solutions, but they die on the most r-slurred of pedantic hills. The deep state exists, as in no matter who is president there is a massive body of government bureaucrats that all received similar educations and exist in similar social environments. Because of that, no matter who is president, their agenda will not only have to fight the other party but its own government as well. It is plainly undemocratic that a group of privileged bureaucrats get to slow down and impede the agenda of the popularly elected government.

Counter being the deep state mostly just refers to the obviously extant organization of (largely) unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats in loose coalition within the federal government. It's obviously not an Alex Jones conspiracy to keep the people down, but there is a group of career feds who abuse their power for personal and political gain.
