Really it's poetic, in a way. A ukranian, what USA cares about 0%, defending Ukraine, (also 0%) was killed by an American Patriot missile, in an American F-16. F16s crash. I've personally seen it happen and i gaurantee that pilot had more hours than the freshly trained ukranian pilot flying in a warzone.

anyway, there's only a few reasons why an airplane loses comms and crashes during air combat ops, and it's pretty likely IMO that the ukies shot him down by accident

It's a single engine fighter with a rookie pilot during high tempo combat ops. There's an insane amount of reasons for that to happen and no country on earth fields pilots this green in combat.

But sure an American air defense system targeted an American fighter with active IFF while trying to target missiles. That's a real thing that could occur. At least claim it was an s300 or something tard.
