Yeah I always laugh at that one bc at least in software dev the pay discrepancy is so gigantic that it's multiple times larger than the full healthcare costs. Like even if I didn't get health insurance through my job (which the overwhelming majority of white collar workers do) and had to buy it out of pocket, I'd still come out way ahead.

tho. Taxes pay for it. And even if you're a total freeloader, if you need an operation for anything 
non-urgent you're put on a waiting 
list which effectvely means you aren't getting it unless you go private. Even cancer 
surgeries get cancelled all the time (or even refused if the cost/life-expectancy ratio isn't within government guidelines).
