I think democracy works really well at a local level but national politics should be restricted to those who have a history of accomplished military service with strict term limits and their appointment should be done in a way that I don't have an answer for, but not the current system. Landowners maybe but that has a number of issues with it right off the bat. Politics both domestic and international are far too complex in current year for any normal person to be an even halfway decent judge of what is best or not and the idea that we should all have powerful, equal voices in that regard is nice in theory but very silly in practice.
Very soon the first world is going to reach a point where a large percentage of people don't have to work to keep society functioning and advancing. At that point we either decide to give r-slurs shit they don't deserve or we hard pivot to "millions will die".
I don't want the same people deciding how to deal with america's enemies deciding what happens to the poor, mentally weak and low IQ people at that point.
But yes democracy is pretty useless in its current form.

The looming specter - or promise of - superintelligent AI makes everything murky and impossible to even take an educated guess at how things will be in half a century. Maybe it'll wipe us all out, maybe we'll be enslaved, maybe we'll hit singularity and all the soys were right and it will usher in an era of post-scarcity digital-real-hybrid utopia, maybe it'll be something else entirely. I have no idea and I don't think we can know and I also think anyone trying to fight against it is being ridiculous. It'll be good or it'll be bad or it'll be neither and just new, but it's inevitable and unanticipable and in the end everything will work out in one way or another because we are children of God.
Not even talking about some AI super intelligence. In the last fifty years certain jobs have already been automated away. The amount of work the average wagecuck needs to do to complete a task has decreased drastically and where has that saved cost/added revenue gone?
If the current trend continues I think a lot of people will either die off, or be tossed just enough scraps to survive in abject misery.

Yang had nothing but r-slurred ideas but he was the only one actually talking about this and trying to get ahead of it and even with him 4 years gone this remains true. I'd have voted for Yang on that alone and I still would now.
I don't think things will get better between most people marginally mattering to the government versus them not mattering. The incentives would map more like shithole states.

Not really, I just want to be left alone. Where we're at currently isn't too onerous and I don't mind it, I just don't think it's sustainable for all that much longer.
