Someone dropped a match into a βdrop boxβ in Clark County this morningβ¦

Hundreds of ballots destroyed.
I was told that dropping votes inside an unattended box on the street was a good idea.
No way to tell what votes were burned or who they even belonged to. Absolute insanity. pic.twitter.com/QIa7aIQYlu
Turns out you can just drop matches into ballot drop boxes and the ballots go bye bye and there's nothing they can do about it?

The outer envelope should have a tracking number. So if you dropped your ballot off at that box, and they don't update you with "we got your ballot", then it got burned. You can still vote, but you'd have to vote in person. Even if you request a mail-in ballot, you can still vote in person, you just can't vote twice.
At least that's how it works here. Seems straightforward.

Where do they update you with that info? The mail? The phone? Some r-slurred online portal you have to sign into?
Lotta these boomers probably submitted and quitted and aren't checking. Driving to a shart mart parking lot and walking 50 ft is a full day of burger energy for many.
Like 15% of these burned ballots are getting resubmitted bro. It's over.
If you want to be sure your ballot counts you have to completely coat it in asbestos. No other way.

They send an email, but also have an online portal where you can check any time.
Probably less. That's not the point though. The point is if you dropped your ballot in there and you actually care about making sure it gets counted, you can figure it out. I don't really give a shit about boomers who can't figure out something that simple.

they're supposed to collect the ballots daily so it shouldn't be difficult to figure out if your ballot was affected.

Is it? That would be weird. I wouldn't want to rely on the USPS working to be able to vote. A few years ago they straight up lost my ballot and didn't report it lost until the week before the election (too soon to mail me a replacement) so I had to vote in person.

Not the same state but my wife got a text message when there was a problem with her mail-in ballot
I had to request a second ballot for my state election because the return envelope was already sealed when i got it
