Can't wait until the day polarization gets so bad all Americans can openly denigrate the other side instead of just republicans god why do they get away with everything
I really want to know what reality this person lives in where people do not openly denigrate republicans
It amazes me that these strags can spend all day on Reddit sowing down one propaganda post after another about how anyone right of Bernie Sanders is a literal nazi and still believe that they're "not allowed to denigrate" Republicans.
They made an effort to co-opt the non-bro Bernie fans since 2018, ignoring that part of Bernie's appeal in 2016 was their accommodation of chuddier elements, at least before he bent the knee. Basically kept the unpopular part of Bernie's platform, the Warrenite/AOC block. It's also why you see a more traditionally left wing appeal in the Trump campaign ie: tariffs and union support.
I remember being surprised by 2012 Reddit back when I was young and naive
Reddit didn't feel that political back then and I remember a lot of Ron Paul spam when people did talk about ideal candidates. When the election came down to two candidates the pro-Obama anti-Romney spam was sudden and egregious. Criticisms of Romney, the most boring and normal red candidate we've had since, were no different than the modern criticisms of Trump or DeSantis or anyone else Redditors don't like
Soon as the election was over Reddit went back to being ambivalent about Obama since they weren't so universally astroturfed then.
It's funny because the Democrats sort of had something going when Walz called Vance and rightoids at large weird. I don't know why that burned out so quickly. I vaguely remember hearing Harris say something at the presidential debate about elevating themselves above name-calling, maybe that was a sign of a disconnect between strategies?
I thought personally it was an attempt to not potentially make the mistake hildawg did in calling them deplorables. Essentially not trying to give them a group identity to rally behind

And the sub spent so long ragging on Bernie, then especially pointing out how inorganic Bernie reddit activity was for the 2020 election.
And now we're here.

I find it funny that everyone here is about the Harris campaign astroturfing. That's what the Dems did in 2012, 2016, 2020, and now 2024.

Because everyone could see that Walz is a weirdo. It backfired and only resonated among the blue hairs and extremely online.

The irony that a good portion of liberals are just as hateful and moronic as Trump himself (who never targeted voters) is completely lost on them
