For those who donβt want to wade in the thread for additional context, the guy has a degree in economicss and applied only through LinkedIn and Handshake. Never used Handshake, but LinkedIn is literally just pressing a button to show your interest and link your profile to your potential employer. No cover letter required, no required skills section and barely more than a 500 word job description.
I probably applied to two hundred of these in total over a weekend in late 2020 and the only job offer I got was a commissioned sales position with a life insurance firm.
My batting average was much higher just emailing hiring managers directly and getting their information from specialized sites like governmentjobs.com.
I gotta move in the middle of next year to support my girlfriend and my plan is to hire a professional resume/cover letter writer and skip over the application shotgun blast sites.
