Literally just spin things a bit and you get your surveilance dystopia. Why are people so dumb.
Not like it's impossible to create an anon way of checking your age. You could easily buy a ticket at a gov office with like 10 random codes that can be inserted into a phone app and saved to the phone/PC. Then any website could just confirm based on that 1 code which is not related to your real identity in any way. There, your kids now can't watch porn unless they somehow find your codes, but at that point we're basically back to porno mags age.
But nooo, why restrict porn without compromising privacy when we can just use it as an excuse to verify everyone's identity online
Please tell me i'm just being a shizo and social media sites won't be mandated to require digital ID in 10 years.

This scheme doesn't solve the real problem of the century (if not the millennium): who is allowed to say the nword on the internet. Think about it, it really got us in a bind because banning an nword for saying the nword is just as racist as letting a mayo say it without consequences. One time codes won't solve it, AI can't solve it, only the universal voter id seems like a viable approach. - Big D

For example, xhamster follows the laws in these states. They still operate in these states but you have to verify your age first

Yeah, there's nothing legally stopping them from operating, they just choose not to do so. Even funnier, they justify it by saying that the age verification would just encourage minors to go to less safe sites; so, by restricting everyone from accessing the site, the minors that would have used the site will go to...?
It's also funny that their position on the issue is a tacit admission that: a) minors can and do use the site, and b) they have no intention of attempting to stop it. Really, nothing about their actions really helps their case.

We need to decide, together, that this type of speech is not protected by various charters and constitutions. It is hate speech, and it damages the very fabric of society. Laws against it are a reasonable curtailment of the right to free expression.
When Germany emerged from WW2, one of the laws they set into stone was: you will not deny the holocaust. It worked; Germany has fewer neo-Nazis than North America.
