This has been ongoing since 2008. Denmark gave them the ability to become independent in 1979. I'm not sure why all the brain wormed MAGAs think this has anything to do with Trump, they got their draft constitution published in 2023 and this is a continuation of that.

It's going to be lulz to see Trump continue to piss in to the wind and rage that he cant buy something though. Denmark can't sell him Greenland because they have home rule and their law does not allow for that, even if it did they would be booted out of the EU immediately. He doesn't really understand negotiating at all.

Greenland would itself need to be independent, vote to accept annexation by the US, enter an annexation treaty with the US and Congress has to approve it. Even if all those things were likely to happen they are not going to be willing to be nationals and will have to have full citizenship. I'm sure the MAGAs will love that.

Yeah trve. But to add to what you said, I think the US should have pushed harder for the purchase of both Greenland AND Iceland when those territories had combined less than 100,000 people. In 1864 a delegation was sent to those countries to ask the senate if those territories should have been bought from the kingdom of denmark, but they burst out laughing at such ridiculous offer. Imagine how history would have turned out if the idea was pushed further :marseylaying:
