A: someone really DID spend tbat much. We're talking about groups of people who shell out billions on the reg.
Or, much more likely-
B: A small portion of protestors, organizers, influencers were paid to promote it, and the spark spread organically from there.
Either way, I believe it was artificially boosted one way or another. Any group would be behind the curve at this point if they werent funding protests (to then be transformed into left/right headlines).

My favorite story about him is when mobster Michael Franzese wanted to hire some people to picket an Atlantic City casino he was trying to extort.
