A Great Moment in r/Drama History

https://www.vice.com/en/article/qvegg5/reddit-suicide-video

Back when the jannies were r-slurred/based (it's a fine line).

They left up a video of (if I remember correctly) that r9k kid blasting himself in the face with a shotgun after which his mother walks in on his unrecognizable corpse.

Journoids were pissed.

That's probably one of the few things that actually should be jannied tbh

Why?

A kid blowing his brains out really isn't funny or dramatic. The edgelord routine can get taken to r-slurred levels

Yeah dude, an r-slur blowing his head off on livestream is totally not funny :marseysmirk:

99 percent of people actually wouldn't find some random kid blowing his brains out to be funny

Neither is your post. Why should either be mopped?

So do you think that literally nothing should be mopped? Should cp be mopped?

If it's illegal in the jurisdiction of the server, it should be mopped. For specialized forums like rdrama, shit that isn't on-topic should be mopped. For general forums like reddit, it should be up to the jannies of each subreddit if it's not illegal.

So you're saying the only reason cp should be mopped is because it's illegal?

Can you show me where I said that specifically? You can be opposed to something on both legal and moral grounds.

You know, you could have just said that kids blowing their brains out is funny, but cp is where you draw the line. But if you would like to die on the nothing-should-be-too-distasteful hill for cp, well.

The jannying on sites like reddit has gotten unbearable recently, but there's plenty of borderline shit that's not technically illegal but which should probably be mopped. The majority of people on here were calling for the heads of people who defended pedos, which isn't technically illegal. Isn't that overactive jannying by your definition? There are also big russian yt channels that post videos of their own kids on yt in a way that's clearly marketed towards pedos. That's not illegal, but isn't there a case for it to be jannied?

isn't technically illegal

Pretty sure you could find a way that it's illegal in the US. Even if you couldn't, shit that even gets close to being illegal should be jannied. Not sure how you've started equating gore to p-do shit, honestly. It's a bit of a jump.

Well there are plenty of places where suicide is illegal, so you could argue that it's close to being illegal. Under your definition posting murder videos would be illegal as well, and I would say that both could be considered harmful. Both acts have harmful effects on society overall. I like trolling and messing around but posting a video of some schizo/depressed kid committing suicide is just sadistic and trying way too hard to be edgy

Still worth it when you hear the mother.

This was 2018, that was only like a 7/10 edgy back then.
