Troponin levels are used to determine if a myocardiac infarction has occurred recently (upwards of 36 weeks due to new sensitivity). It is common that a patient refuses a possible positive troponin result to help the family members.
Troponin levels are taken every 15-30 minutes to gauge how recent an MI occurred. It isnβt a determinate factor but gives a good frame of reference.
Troponin doesnβt lie and a positive level is definitive of an MI. The test takes at most a half hour to determine if a cardiac event has happened recently but people are weird
