In the final episode of Supergirl, one of the characters is fighting an alien. She shoots a gun at the alien and the alien tries to swing some punches at her. After successfully ducking his punch, the character assumes an empowered pose and fiercely says, "No touching without consent".

Here is a video:

I don't care who you cast in the movie. But if you use that as an opportunity to convey some hamfisted, politically charged and condescending message to your audience(like in the above example), expect there to be complaints. Otherwise,I think Ivory will do a great job.

Comic and movies were always hamfisted, politically charged and condescending trite for the unwashed busriding scum. The Golden Age of Hollywood started during WW1 and Golden Age of comics roughly coincides with WW2. Media of this era is full of blatant moral instructions and propaganda.

Go make some real friends instead of complaining on the internet.

I mean, comic books are for kids, so obviously it'll be hamfisted. What's amazing is that these redditors don't connect those 2 thoughts, and keep on ensuring that the only movies being made are capeshit. I can't wait for them to get excited at the word "frick" to be used by one of their heroes so they can pivot and say "see, they DO make them for adults"!
