According to the article. You can lie about your criminal record on your application but it's illegal to hold anyone accountable for it.

Surely Amazon's defence here is pretty straightforward - his application was rejected not on the basis of his past conduct, but on the basis that he made false representations during the interview and as a result there was a breakdown of trust?
