The story of Jack Reacher, for those who don't know is a story written in a series of 26 so far best selling books by Lee Child. The title character is a twist on many other archetypes. I've read about half of the books. The 2 movies that came out with Tom Cruise were not bad movies, pretty fun for what they were, but mass complaint about how Tom Cruise didn't come close to appearing as the character Jack Reacher is described in the books. No matter what kind of trick camera angles they tried, they couldn't make shorty appear to be the mountain of a man that Reacher is in the books. He was described in the books and this a key part of the his whole persona as a giant (6'5" or so) guy built like a brick shithouse, but who mostly uses his considerable intellect and wit to handle anything with only braun as a final backup. He's an ex-military cop, Major, who retired
He’s a voluntarily homeless drifter who travels the hot and dusty highways of America wearing the same set of clothes for several days at a time — he carries no luggage, no ID, nothing at all but a toothbrush and an ATM card, occasionally replacing his clothes with brand-new ones, bought cheap.
So now Amazon has released a new series based on the first book, Killing Floor.
I'm just about to start watching it, we'll see how it goes. I might report back.

Im 4 episodes in. It's not amazing but it's ok. Ive read about half the books too. When I read killing floor years ago I'd never thought of all the pulpy male action thriller out there that the 6'5 can do anything Mary sue would be the one to really take off. I won't lie and say I wasn't looking forward to this show though.

I really enjoyed the books that I've read, and even enjoyed the movies even though I just had to ignore the part of Cruise playing Reacher. Especially the second one, Never Go Back, was a really good movie in own right.

They really play up on his size in the show. Everyone complained about miscasting with the Manlet for the movies and the 1st 3 episodes make sure to point out he's a giant mofo. Even have his legs hang off the bunk when he lays down. They cast a dude who fits reacher's description perfectly. Funny enough while it's violent and kinda gory it's still toned down from the books.
